On the chassis is mounted a professional engineered and constructed living unit. Measuring 560cm long, 250cm wide with an inside available living height of 210cm. Build and installed by Twiga Travelcars that has an outstanding reputation and experience in building a unique aluminium unit with an excellent mounting to the chassis. The unit is mounted with several bearings to the chassis, two give stability and the other two give flexibility. It is capable of remaining torsion free when driving over obstacles as high as 70cm. The unit consist out of a one piece welded thick aluminium frame and 60mm PET insulated panels glued to the inside of the frame. Therefore there are no cold bridges whatsoever. The panels are engineered to help withstand damage from branches or other objects. The sub frame is constructed in the bottom floor, this way the unit is mounted more closely to the frame which reduces height and gives a more compact look. The entire living unit and truck are professional sprayed in a RAL7003 mosgrey color, giving it a friendly but strong look. The living unit is removable, therefore the expedition truck is registered as a container carrier and not a camper. This gives Dutch buyers a big roadtax advantage.
windows
The unit is fitted out with Outbound double glazed windows, hatches and a door with a secure lock. Outbound is a market leading company in the camper and expedition world. There are five large symmetrical windows measuring 1200x500mm, one smaller bathroom window 600x500mm and a large skylight 990x600mm. These give you a broad view of the surroundings from within the unit and let in loads of light. All fitted with black out blinds and mosquito mesh nets. Furthermore all windows come with installable protection and anti theft cover plates, color matched to the unit.
couch
The couch is in a comfortable u-shape, giving space for relaxing the way you like. It’s upholstered by a professional with a high grade durable buffalo rustic real leather. The foam inside is made up out of different layers with different strengths for a comfortable and long lasting shaped seating. All cushions have a wooden back plate for extra strength and durability. By means of strong magnets the different cushions can be removed to give access to the storage cabinets underneath the couch or make up the bed. The marine quality aluminium and stainless steel table leg is powered and can be lowered by the flip of a switch. The bamboo tabletop has two flaps that can be folded down for easy access to the bed or cabinets above.
Layout
Inside the living unit you’ll find room to live for five people. There are two 80x200cm Auping Maestro mattresses with a Auping 160x200cm top mattress, a sleeping couch measuring 140x200cm with high quality firm but comfortable foam and there is a foldable bed in the truck’s cabin. The bathroom is situated in the front to maximize living space and create a spacious feeling. Underneath the bed you’ll have the garage with loads storage.
All cabinetry is professionally build and only the best materials have been used. From the marine grade stainless steel polished knobs and hatches to the warm caramel bamboo. The bamboo has been coated with a super durable and long lasting two component coating, but it still maintains it’s extreme matte finish. The cabinets are build with strong birch plywood. In the cabinets you will only find the best Grass sliders, flaps and hinges guaranteeing durability and smoothness.
kitchen
A large 158cm long kitchen with Miele induction cooking, Miele combi oven and a special Franke boxcenter sink with a functional design faucet. There is also a Nespresso with milk foamer in a custom designed mount. A extractor blows out cooking smells and moist. In the drawers you will find a custom laser cut durable foam and oak inlay with exclusive cutlery, dishes and glasses, a Kitchenaid multi mixer and a compact high quality Magma cooking set. A Blanco drawer bin, with ventilation for unwanted smells, is fitted out as well. The solid surface bench top is unique and custom made with a drip free edge and a hardened glass end piece to block splashes coming from the sink. All equipment is perfectly recessed in the bench top giving the kitchen a high end finish. The Vitrifrigo yaght quality cooler and freezer drawer keeps your food on the perfect temperature. For extra luxury there is an ice maker connected to the mains water.
BATHROOM
The bathroom is large and light. A marine ceramic toilet with water flush and macerator gives you the ultimate comfort and hygiene. The shower has a large 140x80cm stainless steel tray with four drains. In it there is a custom a-grade teak tray that is easily removable for cleaning. You can wash your hands and face in the large 80cm solid surface basin. A custom made brushed stainless steel heater dries your towels. It works on electric and hot water from the Webasto water heating system. All the bath fittings are brushed stainless steel from Hotbath Archie, a high end design manufacturer. And last but not least in the cabinets you’ll find a Daewoo Mini washer/dryer and a Miele Triflex HX2 battery vacuum.
Water
To be sure you can survive harsh hot climates and being far away from civilisation, you need a lot of water. Inside the living unit, protected from the climate, there is a fresh water tank containing up to 540L. Filtering this water is done superbly two ways; when filling the tank and when extracting it. When filling the water passes a course filter and a fine filter, after which it passes through a Purion UV filter. To keep energy consumption low, this UV filter is only one when filling, this is guarded by a automated water valve control system. The water is now stored clean and disinfected in the tank. When water is extracted from the tank it passes another Purion UV filter and a carbon filter. Now the water is at the highest of standards. To access the filter system and water pump simply remove a couch cushion and pop up the water system housing. Filling the tank is done by the fill connection on the outside control panel.
To store waste water there is a 250L grey tank and a 240L black tank. All tanks are custom made out of durable and hygienic 10 mm thick HDPE. Emptying the tanks can be done remotely by controlling the Vetus stainless steel marine valves or on the control panel outside using the Vetus switches with led indicators. Using the remote you can empty the tanks while driving or use the MAN camera underneath the truck to position the outlet over a drain. Also you can connect a hose to empty further away from the truck. For cleaning the black tank there is a separate macerator pump that pumps grey water pressurized thru several spray nozzles. The bottom of the black tank is at an angle so all material is flushed out.
A hatch on the outside gives access to a comprehensive control panel on which you are able to control the fill system, close all water users in case of a leak, control all the heating convectors,, change the underfloor heating and frost protection settings, turn on and off any outside lights or take an outside shower. When there is no pressured water, a spare pump can be used to pump from an open water source like a river or a bucket.
Energy
Most important when being in the wilderness is an energy system that you can rely on. Only the best equipment is used to achieve this. A Victron and MG system takes care of this. At the center of it all there is a MG Master LV battery management system, connected to three MG LFP second generation Lithium LiFePO4 24v 280 Ah. This gives a total of 21,6 kWh storage. Several Victron components provide power and control, of which a Quattro II 5kw 230v inverter. System control is done by the GX Touch 70 or your smart device, showing all power going in and out, tank levels and temperature status.
To provide energy there is a 230v mains connection, four Bisol all black XL 450 wp solarpanels totalling 1800 wp, a TIG 3000D Diesel generator and a 50A DC charger when driving. Having so many KW’s coming from the strategically placed solar panels, free off grid living is possible when there are enough hours of sunshine.
The generator provides 2,8 KW of power and is capable of inverting. Because it runs on diesel there is a one fuel system, no need for a separate gasoline tank. Start power is provided by it’s own battery system with DC charger for maintaining the generator start battery. This way when not using the generator for long periods of time the battery doesn’t deteriorate. It is build in a storage box on the outside with extra silence proofing materials. Temperature is visible on the GX Touch 70. Start/stop is controlled automatically by the Victron Cerbo system, but can also be used manually. The generator and Victron Quattro II can provide 230v power simultaneously, giving a total of 7,8 KW. This way you can cook inside and outside at the same time.
To be able to control every power user, in the living unit there is a comprehensive switch board. Every individual user is controllable, giving the owner full control of power usage and functions. 12v and 24v users are all fused with standard car fuses. They are easily accessible and by means of a led indicator you can quickly see which fuse is blown. 230v users are secured by a Hager system of automated fuses and earth faults detectors. To pay for use when connected to 230v mains power there is a kWh meter installed.
When driving a 50A DC charger charges the house batteries. There is also another DC charger that takes care of topping up and maintaining the truck batteries when parked. This way you are always good to go and the parking air conditioner and extra fridge/freezer in the drivers cabin can stay on, making the cabin a extra climate controlled living space.
Heating and cooling
A Webasto diesel powered water heating station provides warmth for the heating convectors and for the 40L Isotherm water boiler. The boiler can also be heated electrical. There are several groups of electrical 24v underfloor IR heating films and frost protection for the tanks. You can easily switch from comfort heating to frost protection or use both. With the underfloor heating and electrical boiler function you are able to use the free solar energy to its fullest.
There are five JAGA convectors throughout the unit, including the bathroom and garage. In the living area you have extra boost fan’s installed on the convectors. This way there is a quick heat displacement when you wan’t to heat up the living area fast, when returning from a cold walk outside, the diesel heating is app controlled by a wifi thermostat just like at home.
Cooling is done by a Dometic Freshwell 3000. There are numerous Airflow Icon shutter opening and closing fans installed. When turned off the vent opening closes and keeps bugs out. Unique are the extra silent custom installed fan motors that are temperature controlled. This functionality takes care of speeding up the fan when more cooling of equipment is needed. This way the fan always operates on the lowest possible speed, thus giving the least noice and removing little precious cooled or heated air. Ventilation for the fridge/freezer can be done two ways, easy by flipping a switch. In winter hot air is circulated in to the living unit, in summer the hot air is extracted out of the living unit.
Lighting
In the living unit there are numerous high quality, high CRI led strips and led spots in the ceiling which are all dimmable and warm in colour. These are divided in several groups so setting the perfect mood and amount of needed light is easy. You can control the lights when entering the unit and in bed. There are also several stainless steel led reading lights. Outside the living unit there are four downward projected high intensity led lights that provide good vision around the vehicle.
Communication
A high quality industrial 5G (and 4G) router and antenna gives you access to the internet. In the future you can easily connect a Starlink system and still take advantage of the router and antenna. The antenna also houses a gps function for the Victron system and boosts WiFi around the vehicle. A 24 inch IMac is housed inside a cabinet to do some remote work or watch a movie.
A comprehensive Ajax wireless alarm system provides security to you and your family. Inside the living unit there are multiple smoke detectors in key places. There is even a carbon monoxide detector. Two leakage detectors alarm in case of a leak and automatically shut off the fresh water pump. In the drivers cabin and in the living unit there are motion and glass break sensors. Outside and inside there are sirens that alarm you and your surroundings. On your phone you can receive an alarm or control the system, this can also be done with a remote on you keychain. The system can be activated in two steps; only the cabin or the cabin and living unit. As an extra option you can add curtain sensors outside guarding the perimeter of the truck and only alarms you when people come near.
audio
To make the experience of staying in your living unit even better, there is a comprehensive Fusion and Bose audio system installed. Four elegant installed small form factor aluminium Bose Omni Jewel speakers, a powerful subwoofer and two outdoor speakers are fitted in and outside. All is controlled by the Apollo RA770 touchscreen media player and a eight channel amplifier.
